NPC FILM GROUP BEGINS PRODUCTION

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Film Group began production Saturday for their upcoming film ThePhotographer . Principal photography will begin this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Liberal Arts building and will include a number of haute couture gowns on loan for the day from Chuck Dodson, who is also playing Bernard Goldman, the fashion agent in the film.

Other cast members include Joe, his assistant, played by Rahem White, Bernard Goldman, his agent, Anna Karinova, Vogue model, played by Brandi Searcy, Jacob Webb, antique dealer, played by Mason Tabor, and a variety of background actors and day players.

The camera is over 100 years old and made of mahogany, cherry and iron. The camera and stand weigh about 150 pounds. The brass lens is of museum quality, about a foot long and weighing 11 pounds. Program director, Richard Browne said, “The images it takes are not possible to achieve with a modern lens. The pictures look more like paintings than photographs. After being in the film, the camera will be on loan to the photography program, so students can have experience with large format negatives and a quality of image that is unsurpassed.”

The Visual and Media Arts Department uses high definition digital film cameras equipped with cinema lenses and monitors, professional sound mixing equipment, and a digital film editing studio. They hope to preview the completed film at their film festival in May.
