Governor Announces Regional Alliance between NPC, COTO, Henderson State

Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Asa Hutchinson announced the Southern Arkansas Regional Alliance (SARA) Wednesday between National Park College (NPC), College of the Ouachitas (COTO), and Henderson State University. The institutions collaborated to form the alliance in response to the Governor’s Closing the Gap 2020 master plan for higher education. The goal of the regional alliance is to create an innovative, collaborative, 21st century delivery model for higher education and workforce development initiatives in Arkansas that will prioritize student success, degree attainment and workforce development ahead of tradition and turf. The agreement also includes strategies for creating institutional efficiencies through shared resources.

NPC, COTO, Henderson State Form Regional Alliance

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC), College of the Ouachitas (COTO), and Henderson State University have collaborated to form the Southern Arkansas Regional Alliance (SARA). Governor Asa Hutchinson and Dr. Maria Markham from the Arkansas Division of Higher Education (ADHE) will host a press conference in the Governor’s Conference Room at the Capitol Wednesday, January 4 at 11 a.m. to announce the agreement. In alignment with the Governor’s Closing the Gap 2020 master plan for higher education, the goal of the regional alliance is to create an innovative, collaborative, 21st century delivery model for higher education and workforce development initiatives in Arkansas that will prioritize student success, degree attainment and workforce development ahead of tradition and turf. NPC Hosts Lean 101 Training for Airtech Supply

National Park College (NPC), Airtech Supply (Airtech), Inc. and Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions Group (AMS) received a “grow-your-own” grant from the Arkansas Department of Career Education’s Office of Skills Development (OSD) to offer a LEAN Transformation series of trainings for employees. The grant is the first of its kind to be awarded since the OSD was created.

Kolp Selected As December Student of the Month

Hot Springs, Arkansas – Fredrick Kolp was selected as the National Park College (NPC) December Student of the Month. He is completing his Associate of Science degree in Engineering and will transfer to Arkansas Tech University in January to work toward a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. “Fred’s personal strengths are as impressive as his aptitude in Math and Science. He is an active, outgoing presence in class with a great sense of humor,” said instructor, Paula Welch. “He is the perfect student to get a group project rolling, but also knows how to sit back and let others take the lead. His openness to feedback exemplifies his ability to be a lifelong learner, an asset that will continue to serve him well in college and beyond. Fred is one of the most driven and career focused students in the engineering program.”

NPC Students Pass JavaScript Specialist Certification Exam

Three students at National Park College enrolled in JavaScript course, CIS-2083 JavaScript Programming, this fall, passed their Certified Internet Web (CIW) JavaScript Specialist certification exam on December 12, 2016. According to instructor, Robert Feighl, the students worked hard all semester preparing for this exam and the certification exam was given as their final exam for the course. The students are: Kimari Watson, Charles Akins, and Devin Dunbar. In addition, Kimari Watson also passed the CIW Advanced HTML5 and CSS3 certification exam earlier in the semester.
