Diamond Painting

Diamond painting (also known as crystal art) is the process of applying tiny resin rhinestones (known as "diamonds") to a pre-printed design – usually on an adhesive board – to create sparkling, vibrant and uplifting pieces of mosaic-style art. Not only does it meet the need to escape from everyday life, but it allows you to feel like an artist–even if there's not a creative bone in your body. Overall, they're fun, engaging and also beautiful enough to hang on the wall. But diamond painting also offers a number of other amazing advantages–from reducing stress and anxiety to being a common interest that allows you to meet new people and make new friends. More than a simple hobby, diamond painting provides a variety of mental and physical health benefits too. Stimulates creativity, boost artistic confidence, fine-tunes motor skills, and unplugs you from technology.

Fit Frenzy

Use any tracking device to count your daily steps! Make sure your device is set up to send you a weekly email summary of your activity. Weeks begin on Sunday and end on Saturday. 6,000 average steps per day each week earns you 1 hour, 10,000 earns you 2 hours, and 15,000 earns you 3 hours. Registration is not required. You must forward your 7-day summary to Fit.Frenzy@np.edu each week to get credit for your steps.

Helping Hawks Food Pantry

Take a break from the daily grind by supporting the Helping Hawks Food Pantry. You can earn up to 1 hour a week by stocking, organizing, and distributing food throughout the campus community. Volunteers are needed on Mondays from 11 am-2 pm. Please contact Katelyn Beckwith if you would like to volunteer outside of those times. Meet in the food pantry located in Legacy Hall.

Max of 1 hour per week.

Helping Hawks Garden

Help our garden grow! PTK has planted a garden with heart. Everything grown goes straight to the Helping Hawks Food Pantry to support our campus and community. We need your help to keep it thriving! Join us this Spring to water the plants, pull a few pesky weeds, check on the garden’s progress, harvest and store fresh produce. Whether you have a green thumb or just love lending a hand, we would love to have you on the team. Let’s grow something great together! The garden will be inactive until at least mid-March. After that, volunteers can earn up to 2 hours per week.

NPC Baggers

This course will teach you how to make sleeping mats for the homeless out of plastic bags. Each participant is responsible for supplying their own grocery bags and yarn needles. (No class 5/25 for Memorial Day)

Class will meet in Enrollment Services Conference Room. 21 Sessions/1 hour per session (Max of 2 hours per week)

NPC Knithawks

Knitting, crocheting and other needlecrafts! Come learn and share tips & techniques, answer questions, and discuss current projects. Any type of craft will be accepted. Well Yes points awarded for meetings attended and donated projects. Some supplies available. Meeting in Building 10 lower level.

You may log up to two activity hours per week working out.

Pilates

This course is a total body-toning course focusing on reshaping muscles to appear longer and leaner. It will create stronger muscles to improve posture. This is a challenging core endurance and muscle strengthening class. This class has limited space. (Class will not meet 3/27 for Spring Break)

Self-Study Yoga

Svadhyaya or Self-Study Yoga is designed to continue practicing what you have learned in previous classes. Escape the office for one hour of independent self practice of yoga and stretching. This class is approopriate for all levels of yogis.

21 Sessions/ 1 hour per session (Class will not meet on 5/25 due to Memorial Day Holiday)

Spin & Sculpt

Join Sharon for a blend of cardio and strength training! This class will consist of 30 minutes of spin training and 30 minutes of weight training.

Class will meet in the Spin Room & GC-105.

Story Time

We will meet by zoom the first Tuesday of the month at 1p.m. or in person the first Thursday of the month in the library at 12p.m. 12 books are available for check out, first come first served, or provide your own in whatever format you prefer. Earn 1 hour for reading the book and 1 hour for attending a meeting.

NPC Credit/Non-Credit PE Course

You may take any of the non-credit health & fitness courses in the continuing education catalog, or take a credit PE course and claim hours towards Well Yes!

OFF - SITE COURSES

Adopt-A-Highway-Cleanup

  • S 9 - 11:30a.m.

One Saturday of each month, we will clean up litter on our adopted mile of Mountain Pine Road or another area near campus. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes - we may encounter ticks and poison ivy. Also bring a water bottle. All necessary cleanup supplies will be provided. Children and community members are welcome to join you. Participants can receive a free Great American Cleanup or Keep Arkansas Beautiful t-shirt (while supplies last). Max of 2 hours per month.

Hot Springs Hiking Club

Join the Hot Springs Hiking Club to hike together for fun and fitness! Most hikes will be within an hour of Hot Springs and take around 2 hours to complete. For more information, join the Hot Springs Hiking Club Facebook page. You can receive notifications through Facebook or email.

Walk In the Park

Participants will meet at various locations in beautiful downtown Hot Springs and walk for one hour on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
