ON - SITE COURSES

Basketball for Fun & Fitness

This class will incorporate competitive fun with fitness. No skill level is required. Class will meet in the gym. 29 Sessions/1 hour per session. (No class on 11/27 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday)

Fit Frenzy

Use any tracking device to count your daily steps! Make sure your device is set up to send you a weekly email summary of your activity. Weeks begin on Sunday and end on Saturday. 6,000 average steps per day each week earns you 1 hour, 10,000 earns you 2 hours, and 15,000 earns you 3 hours. Registration is not required. You must forward your 7-day summary to Fit.Frenzy@np.edu each week to get credit for your steps.

Mental Health Matters

Let's focus on Mental Health for a few minutes! Leave your desk or workstation for 15 minutes each day to focus on something besides work. You can take a short walk, sit outside, or even just unplug for a few minutes. Tabatha will share encouraging messages on Mondays and Fridays to help you focus. Hours: Up to one hour each week (.25 each time).

Mesko Walk

Honoring our friend and continuing his devotion to health and NPC, join us as we continue the walk he began. Stroll along with friends or on your own. This activity can be completed as your schedule allows on or off campus. 30 Sessions/1 hour per session (Max of 2 hours per week)

Nighthawk Pickleballers

Pickleball!! Once you try it, you won't deny it! Leave work early and come have some fun. Do you own any NPC-branded clothes? Wear em! All skill levels are welcome. NPC Baggers

This course will teach you how to make sleeping mats for the homeless out of plastic bags. Each participant is responsible for supplying their own grocery bags and yarn needles. NPC Knithawks

Knitting, crocheting and other needlecrafts! Come learn and share tips & techniques, answer questions, and discuss current projects. Any type of craft will be accepted. Diamond Painting

Diamond painting (also known as crystal art) is the process of applying tiny resin rhinestones (known as "diamonds") to a pre-printed design – usually on an adhesive board – to create sparkling, vibrant and uplifting pieces of mosaic-style art. Not only does it meet the need to escape from everyday life, but it allows you to feel like an artist–even if there's not a creative bone in your body. Overall, they're fun, engaging and also beautiful enough to hang on the wall. But diamond painting also offers a number of other amazing advantages–from reducing stress and anxiety to being a common interest that allows you to meet new people and make new friends. More than a simple hobby, diamond painting provides a variety of mental and physical health benefits too. Stimulates creativity, boost artistic confidence, fine-tunes motor skills, and unplugs you from technology. Some supplies available. (No class 11/27 due to Thanksgiving Holiday) Meet in the library. 14 Sessions/1 hour per session

Helping Hawks Food Pantry

Take a break from the daily grind by supporting the Helping Hawks Food Pantry. You can earn up to 1 hour a week by stocking, organizing, and distributing food throughout the campus community. Volunteers are needed on Mondays from 11 am-2 pm. Please contact Katelyn Beckwith if you would like to volunteer outside of those times. Meet in the food pantry located in Legacy Hall. Max of 1 hour per week. (Campus is closed 9/1 for Labor Day)

Helping Hawks Garden

Help our garden grow! PTK has planted a garden with heart. Everything grown goes straight to the Helping Hawks Food Pantry to support our campus and community. We need your help to keep it thriving! Join us this fall to water the plants, pull a few pesky weeks, check on the garden’s progress, harvest and store fresh produce. Whether you have a green thumb or just love lending a hand, we would love to have you on the team. Let’s grow something great together! Max of 1 hour per week.

Joggin’ with Jessie

Fast, slow, or somewhere in between, if you’ve got a little motivation, you belong here! This beginner-friendly class is all about moving your body, having fun, and building up your running game one step at a time. We’ll laugh, sweat, and cheer each other on as we jog our way around campus and gradually (and safely!) increase our distance together. No pressure, no pace requirements—just good vibes and forward motion. (Class will not meet on 9/1 or 9/27 due to holidays) Class will meet outside of the Gerald Fisher Building on the Mid America Blvd side. 28 Sessions/1 Hour Per Session

Pilates

This course is a total body-toning course focusing on reshaping muscles to appear longer and leaner. It will create stronger muscles to improve posture. This is a challenging core endurance and muscle strengthening class. This class has limited space. (Class will not meet 11/28 due to Thanksgiving Holiday) Class will meet in GC-105. 14 Sessions/ 1 hour per session

Spin Class

Pedal your way to better cardiovascular health while building leg and core strength in this low-impact workout on a stationary bike. Anyone at any fitness level is welcome! Class will meet in the Spin Room in the Gym Complex. 14 Sessions/1 hour per session. (Class will not meet 11/26 due to Thanksgiving Holiday)

Sculpt & Stretch

A weight training and core class, using a variety of equipment and weight machines, to sculpt muscles and tighten the midsection. We will finish class with full body stretching. Class will meet in GC-105. 30 sessions/1 hour per session (No class 11/27 due to Thanksgiving Holiday)

Story Time

We will meet by zoom the first Tuesday of the month at 1 or in person the first Thursday of the month in the library at 12. 12 books are available for check out, first come first served, or provide your own in whatever format you prefer. Earn 1 hour for reading the book and 1 hour for attending a meeting.

Tabata/HIIT

This course consists of High Intensity Interval Training that rotates short bursts (20 seconds) of maximum effort followed by 10 seconds of rest. Workouts consist of 4-minute rounds with 1 minute of rest between rounds. (Class will not meet on 9/1 and 11/26 due to holidays) Class will meet in GC-105. 27 Sessions/ 1 hour per session Yoga Karen Reeves 23 Hours August 25-December 3 Monday Wednesday 1-2 p.m. Join Karen for an hour of yoga. This class is appropriate for all levels of yogis. Class will meet in GC-105. 23 Sessions/ 1 hour per session (Class will not meet on 9/1 due to Labor Day, 9/8-9/22, and 11/26 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday)

Adopt-A-Highway-Cleanup

One Saturday of each month, we will clean up litter on our adopted mile of Mountain Pine Road or another area near campus. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes - we may encounter ticks and poison ivy. Also bring a water bottle. All necessary cleanup supplies will be provided. Children and community members are welcome to join you. Participants can receive a free Great American Cleanup or Keep Arkansas Beautiful t-shirt (while supplies last). Max of 2 hours per month.

NPC Credit/Non-Credit PE Course

You may take any of the non-credit health & fitness courses in the continuing education catalog, or take a credit PE course and claim hours towards Well Yes!

Hot Springs Hiking Club

Join the Hot Springs Hiking Club to hike together for fun and fitness! Most hikes will be within an hour of Hot Springs and take around 2 hours to complete. For more information, join the Hot Springs Hiking Club Facebook page. You can receive notifications through Facebook or email. 

Walk In the Park
