Assistant Professor of Geology and Geosciences Bachelor of Science in Geology, Texas A&M University (2012) Master of Science in Geology, Texas A&M University (2015) (in Progress) PhD in Biology, University of Florida I am Julian, I am a paleobotanist by trade; I research the geologic and evolutionary history of plants. My primary research focuses on plant taxonomy to understand their evolution, ecology, and extinction. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2015 with my master's degree under Anne Raymond; I studied fossilized plant litter from the Carboniferous Period (360-300Ma), especially early coniferous-related plants. I worked as an Adjunct Professor and teacher for 4 years teaching earth science topics. I returned to school in 2019 at University of Florida to pursue a Doctorate in Biology under Steven Manchester; I studied a fossil flora from the Eocene of Wyoming, focusing on leaves and fruits. I am in the process of writing my dissertation to graduate with that degree. I like to work with underrepresented groups and have helped develop activities at the Wind River Indian Reservation. I still work with Paleobotanists and if you are interested in research and publication, I can help you develop a project with fossils :) I fill my personal life with numerous hobbies. I like to watch anime and animated series as I have developed a deep appreciation for the medium. I like to sculpt mini-figures using polymer clay and keep polymer on me often. I like to read, especially fantasy and sci-fi. I like to explore nature, especially geologic aspects. I love to play with Lego’s and engage in creative building.
