Leigh Turner grew up in Hazen, AR, a very small town with only 1 stoplight, between Little Rock and Memphis. She has a BS from UAMS in Medical Technology (’94) and a MA in Health Services Management from Webster University (’98). She also has an AAS in HIT from NPC in Health Information Technology.

Upon graduation from UAMS in 1994, she worked in the clinical laboratory at the John L McClellan VA Hospital, and she has also worked at NPMC in the clinical lab. She began teaching at NPC 2008. Then, she went on to work on a grant associated with the ARRA in the conversion to the electronic health record. Four years ago, she began teaching in the NPC Health Information Technology program. She teaches Medical Terminology for the Health Science Division. In the HIT program, she teaches anything from Computers in Healthcare, Healthcare Quality Management, Healthcare Statistics, to classes that focus on the Management side of the field.
