Program Overview
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems with an emphasis in Networking (AAS) program will prepare you to work in the field of Information Technology (IT). IT professionals provide support to computer users employing skills in building, troubleshooting, and repair of personal computers (PC) at the hardware level and at the operating system (OS) level. In addition, you will learn the basics of creating, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing networks employing skills in setup and configuration of servers using the latest MS Windows Server OS, configuration of network routers and switches, and employing basic security measures to protect the integrity of those computers, networks, and servers from viruses, malware, and other malicious attacks.

Program Structure
Computer Networking is offered in blended and online formats.
Coursework includes courses in computer hardware maintenance, networking and communication basics, Microsoft and Linux networking, and general education including communications, math and social sciences.

Degrees and Certificates
Computer Networking, AAS
The Associate of Applied Science degree with an emphasis in Networking is a 61 credit-hour degree course. Some courses in this program may not transfer to all senior institutions. Students who plan to transfer to a senior institution are strongly advised to correspond with the institution to which they plan to transfer.
In the Business Pathway curricula, courses that prerequisite to another class require a minimum grade of C in order to advance to the next course.
Computer Networking, TC
Graduates who complete the 31 credit-hour technical certificate consisting of the first two semesters of the AAS will receive a good introduction to computer hardware and networking along with six industry certifications. Students acquiring the Networking Certificate will be qualified to work as an entry-level network associate with the required background for developing more advanced networking skills.
