BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Eligible employees at NPC are provided a wide range of benefits. A number of the programs (such as Social Security, Workers' Compensation, and unemployment insurance) cover all employees in the manner prescribed by law.

SCOPE

Benefits eligibility is dependent upon a variety of factors, including employee classification categories. Details of these programs can be found in the employee handbook and board Policy 4.200.

AUTHORITY

Developed, approved and provided by the Associate Vice President for Human Resources under the direction of the President in accordance with approved budget guidelines, and state and federal laws.

NPC provides a comprehensive package of supplemental benefits to all eligible employees. Health insurance and other employee benefit plans are governed by the applicable plan documents, which are available for review upon request from Human Resources.

Eligibility requirements are outlined in employee health benefit guides, which are provided to new employees upon hire and to current employees during the annual open enrollment period.

Other benefits include retirement plans, paid time off, such as vacation leave, sick leave, and holidays; and other employer-sponsored benefits.

Some benefit programs require contributions from employees, but many are fully paid by NPC.

RESPONSIBILITY

It is the responsibility of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources to research, oversee, develop and update benefits as needed to enable the College to attract and retain viable employees of the highest quality which in turn provides a learning environment for student success.
