Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Board of Trustees held their annual meeting and regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Items for report included new hires, new degree programs, an update on the Foundation’s year-end report, and an overview of recent and upcoming campus events. During the annual meeting, the Board elected new officers, appointed standing committees and adopted the calendar for the year. Gene Parker was appointed Chairman, Ray Donathan was appointed Vice Chairman and Gail Ezelle was appointed Secretary/Treasurer.

U.S. Army Reserve Veteran and Arkansas Native, Dr. Jerry Thomas Selected as VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at National Park College
Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) has selected U.S. Army Reserve Veteran and Arkansas native, Dr. Jerry Thomas as Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Dr. Thomas will be introduced at the regular monthly Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Dr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in mathematics and a Master of Education in Agency Counseling from Southern Arkansas University (SAU) in Magnolia. He has a Master of Arts in History from Louisiana Tech University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University at Commerce.

NPC Announces Van Davis Memorial Scholarship Awards
Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Foundation announced the recipients of the 2016 Van Davis Memorial Scholarship today. Amanda Poole and Kelley Ryals were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Amanda graduated from Lake Hamilton High School in 2013 where she participated in concurrent credit classes through NPC. She credited Scholarship Coordinator, Matthias Elder with helping guide her through the scholarship process. Amanda hopes to complete a teaching degree so she can help students to “excel in life and prepare them for a better future.”

Fiber Optics Technician Training to Begin at National Park College
Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) has partnered with BDI DataLynk to offer industry recognized, Fiber Optic Association (FOA) sanctioned, fiber optics networking courses in 2016. Fiber optics networking is a highly technical, hands-on field that is forecasted to experience high growth through 2022. Employment opportunities could include jobs in the cable, satellite television, or phone industries. The courses can be completed in one week and will begin February 8, 2016 and again on April 25, 2016 and November 12, 2016. Industry certifications are awarded with the completion of each course. Instructor, Bob Ballard is a Vietnam veteran and a FOA certified master instructor.
