Pharmacy Tech

NPC offers a comprehensive pharmacy technician training program that includes 80 hours of classroom training and an 80 hour comprehensive unpaid externship. This program will prepare you to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) Exam. All textbooks and learning materials will be provided.

There is no cost for students that are accepted into this program.

Program Summary

In this program you will complete a comprehensive 80 hour Pharmacy technician program that will prepare you to work in a retail pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.

After successfully completing coursework requirements, you will be placed in an 80 hour clinical externship at a local pharmacy.

You will have the opportunity to apply for additional training through a nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship after successfully completing the coursework and externship.

Admission Requirements

In order to apply you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have HS diploma or GED
  • Complete and submit the application packet.
  • Complete the Career Readiness Certificate 
  • Complete the interview process
  • Consent to drug screen
  • Consent to a State & Federal background check

Apprenticeship

The intent of the training program provided by NPC is for you to gain employment as a Pharmacy Technician with CVS Pharmacy through their Department of Labor recognized Registered Apprenticeship program.

Students who successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician training program and externship with NPC may apply for the CVS Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship program.

This program leads to employment opportunities with CVS Pharmacy in the capacity of an apprentice pharmacy technician. You will complete a comprehensive hiring process with CVS Health in order to be accepted to the
apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship gives the pharmacy technician more education and hands-on experience while earning a paycheck.

Employment Opportunities

This program targets training in the retail pharmacy setting.  Other career settings could include hospitals or mail order pharmacies.
